Egraylack 0 - 5 Syster Argyle

The Gazzetta chance-quality estimate put Egraylack at 1.11 xG and Syster Argyle at 4.18, against the actual scoreline of 0-5. That is a substantial overperformance by the visitors relative to their estimate, though 19 shots and 15 on target make the result rather less mysterious than a freakish burst of finishing. Egraylack had four shots on target from five attempts, but created far less overall threat; their 60 per cent possession and four corners did not translate into a goal. The numbers point to a clear difference between having the ball and making it count.

The early goal gave Syster Argyle a foothold, and Moonsik Chun doubled the lead before the break. Egraylack were then reduced to ten after Martin Jones saw red in the 10th minute, leaving a difficult afternoon with an additional complication. Three more goals arrived between the 49th and 56th minutes, making the second half decisive rather than merely unpleasant. The visitors’ sharper attacking output, and their ability to put so many attempts on target, settled the match emphatically.
