Expected Goals (xG) Analysis: Darkingster’s xG of 3.53 was notably higher than their actual four goals, indicating a slight overperformance in finishing, especially with Roberts’ hat-trick. Derne’s xG of 2.53 suggests they were slightly fortunate to score twice, but their high on-target shot accuracy kept them in the game. The tactical discipline and shot placement from Darkingster’s forwards were key factors, with their ability to convert chances under pressure making the difference.

No Derne players reached the 7.0+ threshold, but the team’s collective effort was commendable, especially in attack.

This match demonstrated the fine margins in lower-tier football, where tactical discipline, finishing, and individual brilliance—particularly from Darren Roberts—decided the outcome. Darkingster’s resilience and clinical edge secured a well-earned victory, setting a high standard in Division 7 League 31.
