The final 0-5 was decisive, and the underlying figures make it difficult to describe it as anything other than a thoroughly deserved win for Carth Rovers. Downhote Athletic had the greater share of possession, but possession without a shot is a particularly quiet form of authority. Carth, by contrast, coupled a high volume of attempts with accuracy and five goals spread across the match. Nikola Musić set the tone with two first-half finishes, and the visitors kept adding to the margin after the interval. The scoreline did not need help from an elaborate statistical argument; the shots column had already made the case.
