St Darne Park 6 - 1 Roystey Athletic

The Gazzetta chance-quality estimate put St Darne Park at 5.63 xG and Roystey Athletic at 2.77. Six goals from the hosts represents a modest over-performance against that estimate; one goal from the visitors, a substantial under-performance. The numbers describe a match with chances at both ends, not a one-way siege: Roystey Athletic had 14 shots and nine on target, while St Darne Park recorded 26 shots and 20 on target. The difference was in the finishing, where Garofalo repeatedly found a way through and the visitors’ sizeable chance total yielded only Mirsad Ahmetović’s goal.

The opening goal arrived after six minutes, and Roystey Athletic briefly restored parity before Phillip Lewis helped Garofalo put the hosts back in front. Garofalo scored again on the stroke of half-time, then added two more after the break; Marcelino Gomez completed the scoring at 69 minutes. St Darne Park also had the greater share of possession and the sharper passing, while the visitors made more tackles. That defensive work did not stop the scoreline widening, though it did at least keep the contest busy between goals. Garofalo was the obvious difference-maker, with Lewis’s two assists and Gomez’s goal and assist giving the supporting cast a useful say in the outcome.
