The final 0-7 leaves little room for qualification: Alth Town won by seven, and their 20 shots to Spe anny Car’s one explain much of the gulf. The hosts had more possession, corners and dribbles, but those measures did not produce a second shot or a goal. Alth Town were also markedly more card-heavy, collecting six yellows to the hosts’ one, a reminder that control of the match did not mean the visitors kept every detail tidy. Yet seven goals, two scorers with braces and Robert Moore’s contribution to five of them make for a fairly persuasive account of the day. The numbers do not claim Alth Town created seven goals’ worth of chances; they do show a side that repeatedly put shots on target and finished with uncommon force.
