Edger Midd 0 - 6 Rotton United

The Gazzetta chance-quality estimate gave Rotton United 3.69 xG, against six goals: a substantial overperformance of 2.31. That finishing made an already one-sided attacking display look even more emphatic, with 13 of 17 attempts on target and goals spread from the 10th to the 74th minute. Edger Midd recorded 0.01 xG and no shots, so its 53% possession and nine corners brought little threat to the scoreline. The figures suggest the hosts had some of the ball, while the visitors made far more of their opportunities.

The final 0-6 score reflected Rotton United’s command of the decisive part of the match: creating shots, putting them on target and finishing at a rate well above the xG estimate. Edger Midd matched the visitors for dribbles and edged possession, but those measures did not translate into an attempt. Six goals arrived without a red card or a statistical mystery; the main surprise is that a side could take nine corners and still finish with no shots.
