The early goals made the afternoon a steep climb for Bebdenish, and the visitors never allowed the contest to settle into a more hopeful shape. By half-time, Gritotton Town had scored six; Hiroshi Kawasaki added the seventh on 61 minutes, turning a remarkable first-half rout into an even larger final margin. The four yellow cards, divided evenly between the clubs, were a minor footnote beside the scoring. For Bebdenish, the 0 - 7 defeat was harsher than the xG difference alone suggests, but the shot count shows why it was not simply a freakish scoreline. Gritotton Town brought volume, accuracy and clinical finishing; the numbers, for once, needed little translating.
