The score was already 4-0 by the 33rd minute, and Erik Kristensen added the fifth on the stroke of half-time. The second half brought three more yellow cards but no further goals, leaving St Aycombe with a result built in a rush and Eridge Hotspur with a long interval to consider how their possession had produced no attempt. The visitors did win the corners and edge the dribble and tackle counts, but none of those measures could soften the central fact: St Aycombe won 5 - 0, and the match was effectively settled before the teams went in for the break.
