For Axbrield Wanderers, the late goal from Alain Roche made the finish uncomfortable for the visitors, but it did not erase the earlier cost of conceding twice in the opening 13 minutes. The hosts responded through Dirk Lange, then John Jansen, and their volume of attempts suggests a side that kept finding routes to goal. Yet after each push back into the match, Bringdon United restored its advantage, including Ken Bay’s second in the 67th minute.

The 3 - 4 result gives Bringdon United the points after a match in which the visitors were out-shot and out-possessed but finished more ruthlessly. Axbrield Wanderers can take encouragement from the 4.58 xG and the sustained threat reflected in 17 shots on target; the less comforting part is that three goals were not enough. Bringdon United leaves with a win built on timely finishing, and a scoreline that appears to have required both sides to keep the arithmetic department alert.
