Expected Goals (xG) Analysis: Darnhiell scored seven from 3.9 xG, a substantial overperformance that turned a strong attacking display into a scoreline with very little interest in moderation. Their 19 shots, 13 on target and 60% possession point to sustained pressure, while the five-goal gap between expected and actual output suggests unusually effective finishing as well as a volume of chances. Carwick Stanley’s two goals came from 2.08 xG, almost exactly in line with the estimate. The visitors managed seven shots on target from ten attempts, so they were not without a threat; they simply could not match Darnhiell’s conversion rate or control of the ball.
Darnhiell’s early goals gave the match its shape: Tomo Šarić opened the scoring in the second minute, and Paul Jones added two before the interval. Carwick Stanley did answer soon after the restart through Bernd Will, but Danilo Rosa restored the three-goal cushion a minute later, and Darnhiell went on to score three more. The hosts’ 85% pass accuracy and nine dribbles, against 76% and four for the visitors, reflect a side more comfortable carrying and moving the ball. Carwick Stanley committed 15 fouls to Darnhiell’s nine, a measure of how often the visitors had to interrupt the hosts’ rhythm.
The final 7-2 score is emphatic, and the match statistics explain much of the advantage: Darnhiell had more possession, more shots, more shots on target and more dribbles. Carwick Stanley found the net twice and matched its xG closely, but the visitors’ response never shifted the contest back into doubt after Darnhiell’s burst around the hour. With seven goals shared among five Darnhiell scorers, the hosts had more than one route to the finish; their finishing simply made each route look unusually direct.
