For Medbury United, the difficult part was not a lack of effort in getting shots on target; it was that Batton Rovers were doing so far more often, and converting at a rate beyond even their strong xG. The hosts’ two goals came with moments of quality, but each response was met by another away goal, leaving little room for a recovery to take shape. Batton Rovers can take credit for a relentless attacking display and a 2-9 victory; Medbury United are left with a scoreline that gives the afternoon’s main statistical fact no need for embellishment.
