Expected Goals (xG) Analysis: Whipsopst scored once from 1.03 xG, almost exactly in line with the chances the Gazzetta estimate suggests they created. Tippel-on, by contrast, scored six from 3.45 xG, outperforming its expected return by 2.55 goals. The visitors’ 16 shots, 12 on target, provide the broader explanation: they repeatedly made the goalkeeper work and converted at a formidable rate. The xG gap indicates that Tippel-on had the better chance-quality total, but the final margin owes plenty to unusually sharp finishing. With possession at 49-51, the decisive difference was not control of the ball so much as what happened when the visitors got forward.
The opening spell gave Whipsopst an early warning, then made the warning rather difficult to ignore. Three yellow cards arrived in the first four minutes, two for the hosts and one for the visitors, before Heinz Winter put Tippel-on ahead in the fifth. Bernardo Angulo added another six minutes later, and Winter struck again before the break. Whipsopst did respond through Vlado Milanović in the 64th minute, a goal that briefly interrupted the visitors’ momentum. Tippel-on answered with three more goals in eight minutes, including a second-half brace for Junha Yoon and Winter’s third of the match. A six-goal away win with only a two-point difference in possession is a useful reminder that the ball can spend its time almost anywhere and still keep returning to the same end.
For Whipsopst, the four shots were all on target, and Milanović supplied the one goal that kept the home side on the scoresheet. The hosts also recorded five corners and more dribbles than Tippel-on, but neither figure translated into enough sustained threat to change the contest. Tippel-on needed fewer corners and fewer dribbles, yet produced 12 shots on target and six goals. Its pass accuracy was only marginally higher, 84% to 83%, while the foul count was lower and the tackle totals close. This was not a case of the visitors monopolising every phase; it was a case of making their attacks count with ruthless regularity. The early cards gave the match a hurried edge, but the goals eventually supplied the clearest account of the afternoon.
