Newkettle Wednesday 0 - 11 Kirkeham

Kirkeham’s 11 goals came from an xG of 4.42, a remarkable over-performance of 6.58 goals. The visitors put 17 of 18 shots on target, and their finishing turned a substantial stream of chances into a scoreline far beyond the quality estimate. Newkettle Wednesday had one shot, on target, worth 0.26 xG, but could not convert it. The 51-49 possession split offers little comfort to the hosts: Kirkeham were more direct in the decisive sense, making their attacks count with exceptional efficiency.

The contest was effectively settled early, as David Fowler opened the scoring in the fifth minute and Taewoo Yang made it 2-0 seven minutes later. Kirkeham had six by half-time, then added five more across the second period. The visitors’ goals were shared among several contributors, with Ademir De Jesus scoring four and assisting twice, while Fowler supplied two goals and three assists. For Newkettle Wednesday, the lone shot and the final margin tell a plain story of a difficult afternoon; the 10 tackles and 12 dribbles show there was activity, if not a way to contain Kirkeham’s finishing.
