Sousey Villa 3 - 5 Seaton Rovers

The Gazzetta chance-quality estimate gave Sousey Villa 2.93 xG and Seaton Rovers 4.09. The final scores of three and five, respectively, sit close to those figures, so neither side dramatically outperformed its chances. Seaton Rovers’ 18 shots, including 15 on target, help explain the higher estimate and the result: the visitors were more direct in creating danger, while Sousey Villa’s 57% possession and six corners did not translate into an equivalent volume of shots.

The opening stretch made the task plain for Sousey Villa: Seaton Rovers scored three times between the 13th and 24th minutes. The hosts showed some resistance, replying twice before half-time and adding another through Franklin Garcia in the 68th minute, but Jose Arias restored the two-goal margin late on. Jason Barnes and Arias supplied the visitors’ most consequential attacking work; possession, in this case, was a measure of who had the ball, not who had the afternoon.
