Bridge Rovers 0 - 5 Derth United

Bridge Rovers lost 0 - 5 to Derth United, whose five goals arrived across a match in which the visitors had three times as many shots and more than twice the hosts’ xG. Julio Ortega supplied a hat-trick; the scoreboard, for once, did not overstate the size of the afternoon.

The five-goal margin reflects the gap in attacking output: Derth United led 18-6 in shots and 13-5 in shots on target, while also recording more corners, dribbles and tackles. Possession was closer than the final score might suggest, and pass accuracy was nearly level, but neither measure supplied Bridge Rovers with a way back. The hosts committed more fouls and collected both yellow cards; Derth United finished without a booking. The result is therefore more than a tale of unusually sharp finishing. Derth United created the greater volume of chances, scored beyond their xG, and kept adding goals until the question of a comeback had ceased to trouble the arithmetic.
